The sacred bo tree Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi is the southern branch of the ancient Sri Maha Bodhi in India, where Buddha obtained Enlightenment. It is the world's oldest live human-planted tree with a known planting date, having been planted in 288 BC. It is now one of the most important Buddhist relics in Sri Lanka, revered by Buddhists all over the world.
The sacred tree is protected from storms and creatures such as monkeys and bats by the other fig trees that surround it. The authorities stopped any development within 500 meters of the tree in April 2014. Only construction that is clearly not harmful to the tree will be permitted.

Ruwanweli Maha Seya is also known as the Mahathupa. The stupa houses two quarts or one Dona of the Buddha's relics, making it the world's biggest collection of his remains. It was erected in 140 B.C. by Sinhalese King Dutugemunu. With a height of 103 meters and a diameter of 290 meters, the stupa is one of the world's highest ancient structures. Many monarchs repaired the ancient stupa, which was around 55 meters tall. This stupa is modeled after the Kaunghmudaw Pagoda in Sagaing, Myanmar. The Mahavamsa offers a detailed account of the stupa's building and dedication event. As early as the 19th century, the stupa was engulfed in vegetation. It was refurbished in the early twentieth century after a bhikkhu raised funds.

Mihintale is a Sri Lankan high summit located near Anuradhapura. The history says that it was here that the Buddhist monk Mahinda and King Devanampiyatissa met to officially establish Buddhism in the country. It is currently a pilgrimage spot with a number of religious monuments and abandoned buildings.

The Samadhi Buddha is a well-known statue in Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka, which can be seen at Mahamevnwa Park. The Buddha is seen in the Dhyana Mudra, a meditation posture linked to his first Enlightenment. Dolomite marble was used to sculpt this figure, which is 7 feet 3 inches tall.

The Jetavanarama stupa, also known as the Jetavanaramaya, is a Buddhist reliquary monument found amid the ruins of Jetavana monaster. When King Mahasena of Anuradhapura erected it, it was the world's tallest stupa and the world's third tallest building at 122 meters. The relic housed here is considered to be a piece of a sash or belt tied by the Buddha. The building is significant in the history of the island because it reflects the conflict between the Theravada and Mahayana Buddhist faiths.

Following the advent of the Mahinda Thero in Sri Lanka, the first Buddhist temple was built in Thuparamaya. The Thuparamaya Stupa, which dates back to the reign of King Devanampiya Tissa and is located in the holy region of Mahamewna Park, is the island's oldest Dagoba. The temple has been designated as an archaeological site in Sri Lanka by the Sri Lankan government.

Isurumuniya Viharaya was built during the reign Devanampiya Tissa, who ruled in Anuradhapura. It is famed for its stone sculptures, the most well-known of which is the "Isurumuniya Lovers." The Horseman, Elephant Pond, and the Royal Family are among the other sculptures. During the reign of, the Isurumuniya Viharaya was built.

Abhayagiri Vihra was a Mahayana, Theravada, and Vajrayana Buddhist monastery. It is home to some of the world's largest ruins as well as one of the country's most revered Buddhist pilgrimage towns. It was formerly a major monastic center as well as a royal capital, with beautiful monasteries rising to several floors and roofed with plated metal or brilliantly colored burned clay tiles.
